2007 Indiana PCF Update
The following important changes have been made to the Indiana PCF (Patient Compensation Fund) for 2007:
· The Fund determined that the original due dates for remittance of fees were too difficult to achieve. Effective with risks incepting March 12, 2007 and later, the revised due date is 30 days from the broker’s actual receipt of insured’s remittance or 60 days after the effective date of the policy, whichever is earlier.
o The Fund will use the postmark date for remittances sent via certified mail or overnight mail. They use the date actually received to determine whether or not a payment is late for all other methods of delivery.
o Late notices are sent to the insurance carrier rather than the broker who handled the submission because the system at the Fund that generates the letters is only associated with the insurance carrier.
· The 2007 annual rates were revised for risks effective March 1, 2007. This is summarized in Bulletin 143.
· A revised Hospital Calculation Sheet was effective March 1, 2007.
· For risks effective March 1, 2007 and later, a Nursing Home Exposure Worksheet for Surcharge Calculation has been developed. Previously, nursing homes were calculated at 110% of premium, now there is a per bed rating established.
